Hi, I’m Zack Roys — owner and sole operator of Basic Communication Solutions right here in Kalkaska, Michigan. I’ve done a little bit of everything. At 15 and 16 I went to trade school for precision machining, running and programming CNC mills, lathes, and grinders. At 18 I was already a well planner in the oil and gas fields, remotely managing 28 computers across active sites. I moved to Pennsylvania and ran the shop for a major fishing-tool company in the oil patch — built their entire key-swipe security system from the ground up. While managing a boiler business in Indiana, I also micro-soldered over 700 cryptocurrency miners over two years while maintaining the server room. Then I moved back home and started my path into the telecom industry.
It was at that point I realized my real skill wasn’t “tech.” My real skill is communication and problem-solving. I took no interest in maximizing profits. My only interest during my entire career in the telecom world was doing what was right to the best of my ability.
When I opened Basic Communication Solutions on May 1st, 2026, I made a strict rule: I will not stock cheap, throwaway accessories just to pad my margins.
